Apple Health App on trial here

Apple has developed, in its latest software IOS 8.02, the capacity to link your personal health data held on your mobile devices (iPhone and iPad) using Apple’s Health app to your medical record held on our EMIS practice computer system. This might mean any data you record, such as blood pressure readings, blood glucose measurements, lung function test results or answers to health questionnaires can be uploaded direct into your files - straight from the measuring devices themselves - and integrated with the information we hold to produce a more complete picture of your health. As we open up more of your records for you to view, your experience of healthcare will become more interactive and participatory, to give you greater understanding and control over your health.

A good article in PC Magazine explaining the uses and benefits of this can seen here.
We are trialling this in North West London before it rolls out nationally. There are obviously many practical and technical issues to test, not the least all the important security considerations. If you want to give it a go for yourself, please contact the doctors or practice manager or send us an email. It's just the beginning in a revolutionary journey towards truly paperless and inter-operative working and is part of a number of changes happening in the background in this area of London and other parts of the country to allow this to gather pace. It will pave the way for a new generation of medical devices to chart all manner of health parameters. Scottie's 'Tricorder' which gave instant diagnoses and health assessments in the Star Trek TV series may not be so far off!
You can get the free EMIS Patient Access App from www.AppStore.comOpens in a new windowand from the buttons on the home page of  our practice website. Once you have registered, this will give you access to the available parts of your GP health record - at present Appointments, Repeat Prescriptions, Immunisations but soon much more.
