Work underway on new surgery!

As reported in the Harrow Times :

Here is our full press release:
Patients and staff of Willow Tree Family Doctors and Fryent Medical Centre gathered on 19th March, to mark the official commencement of works for their new medical facility on Stag Lane, Kingsbury.
Dr Selwyn, the lead GP for the Practice was on hand with a shovel to officially start the proceedings, marking the culmination of years of hard work and support from all the parties involved:        “Our existing surgery, which was state of the art on 1986, has been increasingly squeezed  over the past few years to the point where it is no longer viable for the increasing number of patients we look after.  We’ve been planning this move for many years to give the residents of Kingsbury the modern facility they deserve. We’re looking forward to providing a host of new services to satisfy their health needs well into the future. We’re very grateful for the support of the developers GPI led by William Sheardown, our Patient Group, MP Mr Barry Gardiner and the 3 local Councillors to help make this happen.”
Clive Brand, a patient of the Practice commented:  “It’s great to get out of converted houses – which have served us well but are no longer suitable – and get a purpose-built modern GP practice.”
The new facility is being delivered by General Practice Investment Corporation Limited (GPI), a specialist developer of primary care facilities with 20 years experience in the sector.  Once complete, the 1,250m2 facility will provide accommodation for both Willow Tree Family Doctors and Fryent Medical Centre alongside an on-site pharmacy.
Speaking on behalf of GPI, William Sheardown, Regional Director said:  “We are very proud to have been able to work with Dr Selwyn and his team to ensure the delivery of this much needed new facility.  The project is the culmination of a number of years work and support from the local community, Network Housing, and the local NHS team and has enabled this new state of the art health facility to progress and improve service for the patients of Kingsbury.”
Dr Ethie Kong, chair of Brent Clinical Commissioning Group and a local GP said:  “It’s exciting for local GPs and residents to see work starting on a new, modern health centre.  The clinicians and managers who plan and buy NHS services locally have supported this project for years and I’m so pleased that work has now started.  This is going to be a super new facility which will offer a range of high quality out of hospital services for local people.”

Completion is expected in January 2016!
